Getting there

Hahndorf is located 28 km south east of the South Australian capital of Adelaide in heart of the Adelaide Hills region. Connected by the south-eastern freeway, Hahndorf can easily be reached by road in just 35 minutes from the city center. Local buses also run directly to Hahndorf Main Street or otherwise taxis will also drive you there for about $50-$60.

Directions if travelling by car

  • From the Adelaide CBD drive along Glen Osmond Road until it connects directly onto the south-eastern freeway. Depending on where you start from and on the time of day it should take about 10 to 20 minutes to reach the start of the freeway.
  • Continue along the freeway past the Crafers, Stirling and Bridgewater exits until you reach the Hahndorf Exit on your left. It should take about 20 minutes.
  • As you enter the Main Street of Hahndorf you will pass the Old Mill Restaurant on your left, when you see the German Arms Hotel on your right hand side, turn right into Johns Lane which runs directly next door to it.
  • Drive to the top of Johns Lane and you will find number 19 on your left hand side. Drive up the driveway and you can park in front of the house.

Directions if travelling by Public Transport

  • Buses to Hahndorf leave from stop no. G2 on Grenfell street, Adelaide.(Just behind Rundle Mall in front of Harris Scarf department store)
  • Buses start running from at 6.30am and the last one leaves around 11.30pm.
  • The bus numbers are 864, 864F and 860 .It should take about 40-50minutes.

  • Once you get off the bus at stop 54 cross over the road and then walk to your left towards the German Arms Hotel. When you reach the Hotel you will see Johns Lane on you right hand side. Walk up Johns Lane and you will find no. 19 on you left near the top of the Lane.
